I was so disappointed when I heard it had come to an end. Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks is a policeman in Yorkshire (England). Peter Robinson is most known for his Inspector Banks series, set in Yorkshire town of Eastvale. Sexual abuse passages can become quite explicit.
I love the DCI Banks series and hope that Peter Robinson writes many more, it's easy to identify with Inspector banks as you grow with him across 24 years of police service.
