Your child is of any age and has repeated fevers above 104°F (40°C). Your child’s fever is higher than 104 F (> 40 C).
Response to antipyretics and height of the temperature have no direct relationship to the etiology. Persistent fever can signal a hidden urinary tract infection in both children and adults. The temperature then goes back to normal before spiking again. The main goal is to prevent episodes of fever and associated symptoms while minimizing the potential for side effects so your child can perform regular daily activities such as attending school.
